Not to brag or anything, but yesterday I just got my fifth(-ish) legit coding job. Now that I'm finished the job hunting process, I'd just like to record some thoughts about how I go about getting a job for my future self and anyone on the internet looking for a coding job (no one reads my blog except for me though, lol). I am still pretty young and don't know everything, but this post will definitely help someone (and hopefully my future self).

For a while now I've been interesting in creating charts in the browser using web technologies (js, html, css). It seems that the de facto standard is d3, a very powerful visualization library that can be used for a lot more than just creating graphs and charts. This library can take quite a bit of code to create a basic chart. However, with Rickshaw, a library built on top of d3, you can create the same charts with a much nicer and cleaner api.
Yesterday I attended a meetup event at the "Nokia Fortress" in New Providence, NJ. I have to admit, at the beginning of the day I had no idea what strongloop or loopback even were (I really just went because I was interested in all things node.js, haha). This post is about briefly explaining what these two things are, and then at the end I'll talk about why I can easily see companies using this is real life to save money.
If you want to be a jedi level coder, you have to be careful to not pollute the global namespace with your methods and properties of your controllers (components in angular 2). It's pretty straightforward to do this, but it's sort of a tricky syntax. Suppose your controller now is ...code..., and this could be how you wrap it in an IIFE:
(function(){
...code...
})()
There are many ways to add external Javascript library dependencies to a project. The really old-fashioned I'm-just-starting-out way of doing it would be to actually go to the website and download a zip of all the files in the library. Then as you start learning more about Javascript you might realize that you can just add a script tag pointing to the CDN location for that library. For example, you could load in Angular and TweenMax by putting this in your html file:
