Ctrl-Shift-t to Save Browser Windows
Wow, I forget about this all the time. I find myself doing ctrl-shift tab or something else trying to bring back accidentally closed browser tabs. You might think this is a half-assed article, but I really need this post to remind me that this is the proper shortcut for it. Many people don't know about this and think their fate is that they must open up a new window and navigate back to the back, or find it in their history log. That's way too much work for me, especially when it seems that all the time I close a browser window or tab and then think, “Uh oh. I kind of wanted to keep that one one.” Ctrl - shift- t will bring back the previously closed browser window (Note: It won’t work in private browsing windows!)
But for everyone else this post is about more than just this shorttcut keyboard command. It’s about shortcut keyboard commands in general. They are your friends. They will allow you to work faster, happier, and more productively. It’s quite obvious that keyboard shortcuts are great for coding in IDE’s, but you can also make use of them in browsers, desktop applications, and even at the OS level. There are many features of of computers that are not even used by most people. Don’t get stuck in your same patterns just because it’s comfortable. Be open-minded and think about how you can do common tasks more efficiently. It could be as simple as a ctrl - something instead of using the mouse pointer.
Keyboard shortcuts are your friends! Seek them out, learn them, and use them!
