This is a short little post about choosing font colors when building software applications. In web development, if you don't specify a font color (ie the css property "color") then it will default to black, and black straight up #000000 black is really not a very good choice for a font color... Why Not True Black?Basically, it just comes down to how it is perceived by the human eyes. Most people will say that looking at pure black on a light background hurts their eyes a bit and that an "almost black" text feels much softer and just gels with the rest on the page. Here, you can text it yourself- which of these titles hurts your eyes the most? I even read somewhere one time that true black attracts too much attention because it is a very unnatural color. In the wild dark colors are caused by shadows, absence of light, and the darkest colors are just a very dark version of some color, not the perfect #000000. Hey, I'm a Title.Hey, I'm a Title. Some Good OptionsSo now you may be thinking, "Ok Jim, I won't use pure black anymore, but what the heck is 'almost black'? I can't put `background-color: almostblack;' in my css code!". Welp, here are a few hex codes of some solid "almost black" choices. Happy coding! :)
